Tai Arnold, Ph.D., is a retired SUNY Empire State University faculty member and administrator. She spent her career in higher education in faculty and administrative roles, and now works on special education policy research, legislative advocacy, and writing.

She is co-founder of the Students’ Neurodiversity Community Coalition (SNCC), which uses public records, state data, and family accounts to document how New York’s special education system operates and to press for structural reform. Her current work includes a legislative proposal to reform the state complaint investigation process under Education Law Article 89 and a data series on how students with disabilities leave New York public schools.

She is also the legal guardian of a teenager whose path through the system taught her what the data would later confirm. She writes at Explorations at the Margins and lives in the Saratoga Springs area.
